MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The Immanuel church family always looks for ways that make a positive difference in the lives of people who are hurting and/or in need.
Immanuel's desire to make a difference is rooted is the story of God's love for the world. From supporting a local food bank to the ELCA's international Disaster Response, Immanuel Lutheran Church strives to meet needs in the local community, the nation, and across the globe. "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’ “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’" (The Gospel of Matthew 25:35-40) Give

Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services (LIRS) is calling for volunteers to support incoming Afghan Allies, Special Immigrant Visa holders, who are being evacuated to the United States. When they arrive in the US they have no money, nowhere to stay and nothing to eat. There is typically a 5-7 day gap between their arrivals and the services they are eligible to receive through the US resettlement program. This is where you can help. Your gift to Neighbors in Need: Afghan Allies will provide food, housing assistance, clothing, and other basic needs for our Afghan friends as they await the official services available to them. You can give online through our secure donation portal: Donation. Use the "Your Special Choice" option and type "refugee help" in the blank box. You can also give by sending a check to Immanuel Church. More information can be found at LIRS.org. Thank you! |
GOD'S WORK. OUR HANDS. This year, we celebrated “God’s work. Our hands.” on Saturday, September 11 with a Food Drop-Off Drive-Through Celebration.
Thank you to the members and friends of Immanuel who supported the "Food Drive on God's Work. Our Hands. Day" by driving to the church campus and dropping off food, calling in a donation, or making a gift online or via email. Christine and Steward Blankenhorn were the on-site GWOH food-handling volunteers. Pastor Hahn blessed cars, drivers, and passengers and celebrated Holy Communion with many GWOH participants. A number of people brought their gifts with them on Sunday morning. We support the following: The Immanuel church family also offers a variety of events for neighbors in the Somerton area of NE Philadelphia. These events are usually FREE of charge.
Some are serious, others fun. Some are for all ages, others for children, still others for adults. Click here to learn more about upcoming and previous events. |
