A New Century: 2001 to Present

​In 2001, plans were developed for enlarging Immanuel’s church organ, by means of a considerable sum received from the Gaskill estate and donations from members of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

In September 2001 Pastor Schweitzer accepted a call from the First English Evangelical Lutheran Church of Richmond, Virginia. Pastor Schweitzer’s departure left Immanuel without a qualified bilingual pastor. The pastoral call committee had the daunting task of finding someone to fill this vacancy. The Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod supplied Pastor William Shafer to meet the pastoral needs of Immanuel until the post could be taken by a permanent pastor.

The search for a new pastor took two years. Pastor Sönke Schmidt-Lange was offered the position and accepted the call to Immanuel, and Pastor Shafer left for a new church assignment The installation service of Pastor Schmidt-Lange was held on November 16, 2003 at Immanuel Church. The sermon was delivered by Rev. Janet Corpus, Assistant to the Bishop, Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod ELCA.

In 2006, an elegant electronically controlled church sign was installed by the entrance of the driveway. This major improvement was a gift from Immanuel Church members Christine and Michael Simpson, in loving memory of Michael’s mother, Joan Simpson. The dedication was held on June 11, 2006

Pastor Schmidt-Lange retired on November 1, 2013. The Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod sent Pastor Richard A. Mathisen to guide us through the process of selecting a new pastor. After many months of meetings we developed a criteria for Immanuel's future and decided on the type of pastor we would need to guide us there. Our search committee interviewed several candidates and on December 27, 2015, The Reverend Norbert F. Hahn, Ph.D. was offered the position and accepted the call. Pastor Hahn joined Immanuel on April 1, 2016,
2017 - A YEAR OF CELEBRATION
In 2017, Immanuel celebrated it's 225th Anniversary and the 500th Anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation,
  • On February 19th, we celebrated the 30th Anniversary of Pastor Hahn's ordination.
  • On March 26th, Pastor Hahn was installed as Immanuel's pastor.​​
  • On September 17th, Immanuel held an Anniversary Celebration Service to celebrate our 225 years. Bishop Claire Burkat delivered the message. 
  • ​On October 29th, Reformation Sunday, a Celebration Lunch was held at Cannstatter Volksfest-Verein to celebrate Immanuel's anniversary and the 500th anniversary of the posting of the  95 thesis, with the theme being:​   Remember Rejoice, Re-Form!
